"Vicente Ferrer" awarded at the New York Television and Film Festival
The Vicente Ferrer TV MOVIE, starring actor Imanol Arias and Aida Folch, and co-produced by TVE, Ganga Productions, TV3 and VisionaTV, aired in January 2014 about the life and commitment of Vicente Ferrer, has been awarded and recognized with several international awards: Golden Globe at Hamburg Festival, Gold Medal in TV MOVIES category at the New York International Television Festival, Best Historical Drama at the Impact Awards in Toronto, and Magnolia Award for Best Screenplay at the Shanghai Festival. The TV film was also awarded the First Prize in the category of TV Movies at the New York International Television and Film Festival. The awards were announced at an event held on Tuesday, April 8 in Las Vegas.
The film tells the story of the last 30 years of the Spanish aid worker in India and its fight against extreme poverty. Produced by TVE and Grupo Ganga, with the participation of TV3 and TV Visiona, the film's release on last January in TVE was followed by nearly three million viewers.
Since 1957, the New York Festival Awards every year recognize the best film and television productions of the different participating countries. It is one of the largest events dedicated to bring the film and television industries together.
In March, the production on Vicente Ferrer was also recognized at the Canada Impact Awards 2014 in the category of Best Historical Drama.
